my best

each year the continuing education class schedule comes in the mail...
each year I read it and circle the classes that interest me...
each year I say I will sign up...
each year I never follow through...

until this year...

basic photography

The first night I had to have the teacher explain the concept he was teaching 3 times....

can I do this?
can I keep up with the weekly assignments?
can an ol' gal learn something new?

I'll do my best

 strawberry season

strawberries and waffles
strawberry jam
strawberry shortcake
strawberry pie
dehydrated strawberries
chocolate dipped strawberries
strawberries and brown sugar
strawberry smoothie

can't get enough...

Our hand project at "pickles" quilt group this month
was  a needle and pin holder made out of wool, with a appliqued strawberry.
Sandy provided the old wool army surplus  blanket and Holly dyed the wool.

BLACK and WHITE

This Sunday I will be teaching my Laurel class
 ( girls 16 and 17 years old)

We will be talking about the difference between right and wrong, BLACK and WHITE .

In a world that is blurring morals and lines between right and wrong, this lesson is a reminder that the Lord's standards are clear and that there is no gray area to the Lord.

The youth of the church have this incredible pamphlet that guides and teaches them about:

agency and accountability
dating
dress and appearance
education
entertainment and media
family
friends
gratitude
honesty and integrity
language
music and dancing
physical and emotional health
repentance
Sabbath day observance
service
sexual purity
tithes and offerings
work and self-reliance
Going forward with Faith

It's BLACK and WHITE

every teenager should have it

paper mache eggs

I often find myself in the middle of projects and wonder...
What was I thinking!

Easter Sunday is my turn to teach all the young women in my ward.
(The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints)
They are worth every minute of it.

Eggs filled with  grass, candy and the picture of Jesus, sealed, and ready to be broke open Easter day.

now to start the lesson...

for Kath
My sisters birthday is on the 18th.  I wanted to send her a little handmade gift, letting her know that I was thinking of her.
With the small pieces left over from the dresden blocks that I am working on, I thought I could  make her a "mini" dresden
.
Put it in a 5 x 5 frame, and stitch a cherry out of wool for the middle.
Kathleen, if you are reading this, HAPPY early BIRTHDAY!
act surprised when it comes in the mail

The kid in me

Embroidering and sewing little animals is something I like to do.
I am beginning to wonder if it is a sign of my maturity level.

Make it do

My hubby chuckles when he looks at this embroidered  picture that hangs in my kitchen.
Especially when I tell him it 's my motto.
I don't know what is so funny.

Well, a girl can always try.....

A zig and a zag
It's pickle time again.
First Tuesday of each month.
A time to be with my sister pickles, have a delicious brunch and let our creative juices flow.

This month we are starting a new quilt.  A zig zag pattern.
I'll get my  squares cut and marked, pack my little sewing case and zig zag my way through the neighborhood to Sandy's home.

I choose to do my zig zag in turquoise and white.

...and look what I saw at our local greenhouse!
What a beautiful sight.
Spring is near!
