It was a very good year
Thoughts and Things: Another year coming to a close.
Hard to believe.
Time seems to pass so quickly.
The good certainly outweighed the bad in 09.
Lessons learned, memories made and good health had.
Love of family and friends.
Feeling overwhelmingly blessed.

Having a nice dinner with dear friends to celebrate the new year. I sure hope I can stay awake until midnight.

When my children were young ,they loved new years eve and all its festivities, but it was hard for them to stay up that late since they always were usually in bed by around 8:30. They would watch the clock, waiting for the stroke of midnight so that they could go out on the porch scream, yell and bang pans. One year I could see they were fading fast trying to stay awake, so when they weren't looking I turned the clock forward to midnight! They were proud of themselves that they had stayed up so late! I did that for the next couple of years until they caught on.

Could someone turn the clock ahead for me tonight?

Youth is when you are allowed to stay up late on New year's Eve.
Middle age is when you are forced to.

Just Snow

Thoughts: A beautiful snowy day today. A perfect day to box up all the christmas decorations that seem to be closing in on me. AHHHHHHHHH!

Things: The flurries picture is made from wool. I bring it out after christmas and for January.

Grandma's sleepover part 2
I received a tearful call from little Jack last night saying that he was throwing up and could not come over. Logan was already on his way and I could not disappoint him so Gracie stayed again with her twin brother.

Before I went to bed I checked on the two little darlin's and this is how I found them.

To Grandma's house we go...
Thoughts and Things: I promised the little darlin's a sleepover during the holidays. Last night it was the girls turn. The night consisted of lots of giggling, playing barbies and coloring in bed, wearing grandma's t-shirts, listening to stories and a late night snack of cold cereal.

The girls bounced on the bed as they announced that they were going to stay up all night!

Soon after...sound asleep.

This morning, breakfast in grandma's bed.
Mini pancakes with powdered sugar and juice.

Tonight, the boys...OH BOY!

The important things
Thoughts and Things: The batman hoods and shirts finished. 3 little girls purses sewn and filled. All my christmas projects finally completed.

Now for the important things to do at christmas.

***
"This Christmas mend a quarrel.
Seek out a forgotten friend.
Dismiss suspision and replace it with trust.
Write a letter.
Give a soft answer.
Encourage youth.
Manifest your loyalty in word and deed.
Keep a promise.
Forgo a grudge.
Forgive an enemy.
Apologize.
Try to understand.
Examine your demands on others.
Think first of someone else.
Be kind.
Be gentle.
Laugh a little more.
Express your gratitude.
Welcome a stranger.
Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.
Speak your love then speak it again."

President Howard W. Hunter of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

To be like Him Thoughts: The greatest gift given to us is the birth of Jesus.
This christmas season as we celebtrate His birthday, we can give gifts to Him. We can't give gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh like the wisemen did, but we can give another type of gift. We give a gift to Jesus when we try to be like Him.

Santa's on his way Thoughts : The fog and smog have settled in on our little K-town. Happens every year. It feels as if we are in our own little snow globe. Everything frosted and white. The sun is trying it's best to break through today.
Makes me feel a little claustrophobic!

Things: My homemade version of a snow globe. Simply made with sucker sticks, gumdrops
necco wafer for the snowmans hat, 2 little sticks and sugar. I used a square piece of styrofoam for the base, hot glued it the bottom, then put in plenty of sugar to cover it up.

Pillow talk...Christmas style

I believe in Santa Thoughts: We should all believe in Santa Claus.
Santa stands for kindness and generosity, and those things are alive and will continue to be alive as long as we believe in them.

Things: Santa's here in my kitchen nook!

Follow Him
Are you part of the Inn crowd or one of the Stable few?

Thoughts and Things: My favorite christmas decoration is my little nativity set and the silver tinsel star. I love each little piece of the nativity and it's meaning. During the christmas season I will often rearrange each little figure and reflect upon this miracle.

The birth of Jesus our Savior.

He was born for you and me.

Each day I will try to be one of the Stable few and follow Him.

Let Him in.
