Thoughts: I am having a little halloween get together with some friends tomorrow night.
No costumes or games means no groaning or moaning (party poopers). Just good food and good conversation. Maybe I'll slip in a game or two of halloween bingo. That sounds like something you would play with a crowd of 50+year olds.
Things: Popcorn balls are always a staple at halloween time. Passing along to you my friends delicious recipe.
Polly's Popcorn Balls
1/2 cup karo syrup
2 cups butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Boil 3 minutes
Pour over and mix with:
3 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup chopped pecans
2 batches of air popped popcorn (around 16 cups)
make popcorn balls and cover with plastic wrap

Grandma's paper dolls

A few weeks ago I was walking into a local store. An older gentleman was walking out. I noticed that he did not look happy. At that same instant we caught each others eyes and I simply smiled at him. He looked around, almost as if he was wondering who I was smiling at. Once he realized I was smiling at him he grinned ear to ear.
A simple smile can change someones day.
I don't know about the man, but it changed mine.

Thoughts and Things: A few neighbor kids came the other day for an early trick or treat. I managed to have a few pieces left in the many bags of candy that we have already eaten.
Actually, it doesn't have to be halloween for these little goblins to come over for a treat...I see them on a regular basis...sometimes daily.

A Simple Yes or No
Thoughts and Things: I had the kitchen window open the other day, enjoying the breeze on a warm fall day. My halloween bobbleheads sitting in the window sill, their little heads bobbing back and forth, side to side.
Reminded me of my 3 teenagers.
I could never get a straight answer out of them.

Oink
Thoughts and Things: Years ago I loved pigs.
I collected them. The cute little piggies were all over my house. Everywhere I went I looked for a new pig to add to my collection.
Some friends would say that when they saw a pig they thought of me. O.K. that was RUDE, but I knew what they meant.
I even tried to convince my husband to get me a pet pig!
Seriously Joy, what was I thinking?

I don't like pigs anymore. In fact, I am trying hard to avoid them.
They have made some of my family and friends sick, that makes me mad!
I am getting a shot today so they won't bother me. You should too.

Go away you little piggy, or should I say, you swine!

P.S. This little stuffed one I like, fun to make.
