Pass the salt and pepper ... please

Thoughts and Things: Salt and Pepper shakers are another one of those simple pleasures for me. They are fun to look for and collect. They don't take up much room either!

My bride and groom set is my favorite. They sit in my bedroom. My hubby and I are often as different as salt and pepper, but without each other, we wouldn't be complete.

He is the spice to my life!

Thoughts and Things: Whenever my hubby is out of town I tend to stay up way too late. In my sewing/craft room is the place that you will find me. Where the boogey man can't get me.

A few nights ago I was tidying up my cupboards and saw my dish of clown heads.

Don't do it! * It's too late! * Just go to bed!

Monday Quilt Day

Just a reminder...

Our pickles quilt show

this thursday, Aug. 27th

My house 4 - 8 p.m.

Everyone's invited

The flowers reach tall to catch the rain drops

during a beautiful sunday afternoon storm.

Under the hot sun,
Tree branches,
Sagging so low
ripe peaches.
Summer is delicious.

Thoughts and Things: My neighbor gave me this old ladder, he knows I like them. I painted this one turquoise, lightly, leaving the wood grain to show through. It is perfect nestled under my peach tree. Ready for the harvest.

Crunchy Topping for Peaches and Ice Cream

1/2 cup butter

1 cup flour

1 1/2 coconut

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 cup sliced almonds

Combine ingredients and press into greased 9 x 13 pan.

Bake @ 350 for 25-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. until brown, to form coarse crumbs. Cool

Serve over vanilla ice cream with fresh peaches.

Drizzle with caramel (optional)

My grandma would take me to the funniest places as she was creating me. I even got to ride in a golf cart. I finally got 1 arm that day just enough to give you a wave Hello!

My dress is polka dots in lots of my favorite colors. I love polka dots. My jacket is a pretty kelly green wool, kinda hot for these summer temperatures.

My dress is trimmed with lots of rick-rack. Maybe my grandma should have used matching threads. Sometimes she doesn't think too clearly. I have already worn off some of the glitter of my shoes. I think I might need another sprinkle.

One of my favorite places to be is sitting right in my Grandma's candy drawer in the kitchen. It's the best spot in her house. There is always something yummy in there.

Then there's the candy jar, I just dive right in head first. That's the best way to get exactly what you want.

Oh, did I tell you that I love candy? Would you like a sucker?

Monday Quilt DayThoughts about things: I call this quilt the checkerboard star.

The pattern shows different color stars and blocks, but I like just using just 2 colors. Solid vintage green with a small print on white.

Drive Time

Thoughts: I have begun to enjoy the 2 hour drive to and from our little cabin. I stuff my bag with projects, pack some treats and get ready for some productive hours. My hubby says that I barely look up from what I am working on the whole time.

Even better that working on my projects... being with my hubby.

Things: With my favorite qizmo in my bag I made plenty of pompoms for this pillow.
